Do you think Ben Elton's book Stark is scarily becoming reality?

I read Stark in the 80's along with a few other other his books. But Stark was my favorite and even nearly 30 years on it resonates with me. It was a black comedy, but how freakishly similar are the scenarios in the book and whats going on in the world. I knew he was smart but a philosopher!! i am sure he would scoff?!! I would just like to know others opinions who have read the book. not just seen the movie please. If you haven't read it grab it. Hilarious and at the same time uncomfortably possible. don't worry ive got my seat booked!!
