Can you help me with this query on cancer?

My mum has to have an operation to remove a malignant primary 6mm nodule from her lung. She has to have a lung function test to see if they can use a probe to remove this nodule ,or if not, have surgery. She has to see the oncologist post op also. Will she have to have more scans post op? She has already had a PET scan which showed the primary in the first place. What are the complications post surgery? I am worried more cancer will be found.
